Formed in 1936 the Scottish Begonia Society has as its primary aim to further the cultivation of the Begonia.

The Society holds 7 meetings throughout the year which culminate in the annual Flower Show held in conjuction with the Ayr Flower Show.

In addition to this three bulletins, containing information on growing begonias, and current events taking place in the Society are produced throughout the year.

New members are always made welcome.

Whilst all types of Begonias are cultivated in Scotland the main emphasis has always been on the large flowered double tuberous varieties.  The cool damp conditions in Scotland have proven to be ideal for this, and we pride ourselves on hosting the British Begonia Championship.
